Going OT here but fuck it’s Firday night. I live in South Texas. My in-laws live in Phoenix. We drive there 2x per year, I-10 whole way. I’ve never gone past Phoenix. Is it worth driving to LA and/or San Diego on of these times that I’m in Phoenix for two weeks? I’ve been to the Bay Area many times, but never Southern CA and have been thinking about just driving from Phoenix for a long weekend.

Hmmmm yeah after 14 hours from SA that would suck, but in the middle of a 2 week trip not too bad. Are you allowed to buy a permit and drive right onto the beach in CA? We drive on beaches in TX but we also light bonfires on them and stare at oil rigs just past the surf because well Texas I guess.

Nothing good happens south of Point Conception. Well, beer, and maybe some cars, oh and surf, sometimes, but nothing else. The traffic and dickheads ruin it.

I’ve been on that section of road too many times to count. Best was seeing two fighters chasing each other through the desert and down on the deck. Better than any movie I’ve ever seen.

I honestly doubt they’d let you drive on the beaches in California. But I don’t know for sure.
